Unfortunately priced pretty high, some good news is around the corner.

This game is coming out on digital edition in 2020 as well, you can take a look at our review of that game here!

Mysterium Board Game

Mysterium

This cooperative game has one player play as a ghost and the rest mediums trying to solve a murder. The ghost cannot speak through the entire game, but tries to help players solve the mystery by giving them dreams.

However, in order for the ghost to help the mediums, the mediums need to help the ghost remember all the victims, the locations and the items used in the crimes.

The best way to describe this game to people is to take the classic game Clue, but inject it with steroids because this game is all about working together to figure out the crime to help the ghost sleep peacefully. If a majority of the medium players do not figure out who, what and where the crime took place, they all lose the game.

This game is designed for 2-7 players, best played with 5-6 players. The game also takes around an hour to play so it’s on the shorter end of the time commitment.

With fantastic components in this game and beautifully done art, this game is a fantastic piece to have on the shelves and bring out for just the right spooky occasion.

Arkham Horror Board Game

Arkham Horror the Board Game

This game is for 1 to 6 players and is relatively complicated to play, therefor it might not be for everyone in your group. A typical game runs 3 hours so this will be the main game you play for Halloween should you choose this one. But if your gaming group loves complex games thick with theme, Arkham horror hits you over the head with content here. This game is the lovecraftian entry to this list where players will once again investigate the strange things happening in the town set in the 1920’s. They will also be fighting monsters throughout this game as well as working to prevent the big bad guy from breaking into the world.

If you like games stuffed full of pieces, this is the game for you as the contents of the game are aplenty. There is also much replay value in this game as each time a new is started, the big bad guy is able to be switched out leading to exploring differently and fighting different creatures.

A Touch of Evil Board Game

A Touch of Evil

Players will investigate the town of Shadowbrook, hunting down a big bad guy and taking him down before time runs out. If you need more themes to add to the game it ships with a CD containing it’s own soundtrack. Very immersive.

If you like games that follow movie tropes but still feels like an original board game. A Touch of Evil is for you. rarely is it this easy to get connected to the characters that I play in games but this game with the mechanics of items, stats, and allies that could secretly be helping the big bad guy or even IS the big bad buy is what makes this game so special.

Plus if you love this game, there are a couple expansions that add new characters and maps and big bad guys. The expansions are very well thought out and seamlessly add to the core game itself.

Last Night on Earth Board Game

Last Night on Earth

Last Night on earth is another entry from Flying From Games that is a fantastic replication of a zombie movie.Players will play as the zombies while others can play as heroes. The goal of the game is for the humans to achieve the scenario goal in the game. The Zombies goal is to prevent that from happening.

One thing that is nice about this game is the replayability. The game board is pieced together with tiles that can be moved around from game to game.

There is also something just super enjoyable about trying to fend off a zombie apocalypse in a board game that really digs into movie tropes and makes it feel as if the players themselves are in a movie that is somehow still unique with the trope like characters.

Let’s give a little bonus, most of these games theme towards mystery and I think that has something to do with it being an easier way to have horror when it comes to this medium. So what is one game that we love that isn’t so much this way?

Endangered Orphans

Endangered Orphans

This game is incredibly fun and relatively short. Each player will take on an orphan character and avoid the boogieman. If they get caught they will get eaten by the boogieman and lose!

The theme and art to this game melds well together but is relatively minimalistic. Additionally this game is easy to travel with so it might be a good option to take to a party and pull out for a game that doesn't require a lot of time investment.

This is a card based game where the goal is to hold onto as many options cards as possible without getting drawn by the boogieman cards which causes them to lose.

Unfortunately this game is just as hard to come by these days as surviving orphans from the game itself. But if you really want to find copies, we suggest checking E Bay and the Board Game Geek Market.

So there is our list of games that we recommend that you give a try this Halloween. Amazon Affiliate links can be found for each of these games to pick up for yourselves which helps us out to bring more lists and content just like this to you.
