Everything We Know About The Aegon's Conquest Movie

Song of Ice and Fire fans have something to look forward to in the future again! Warner Brothers has given the green light to Aegon’s Conquest. A film that is a prequel to the Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon series, and it’s coming to the big screen.
Not only will this film be on the big screen, Aegon’s Conquest will be on the BIGGEST screen by being made on IMAX. With a growing resurgence of success with IMAX films like Dunkirk, Batman, Dune and of course most recently the Odyssey, it should be a surprise to no one that HBO want’s that as well.
Aegon’s Conquest in the books follows Aegon I Targaryen as he travels to Westeros and conquers each realm, uniting them under one rule. That rule remains in the Targaryen line all the way up to the events of A Game of Thrones when Robert Baratheon becomes king during Roberts Rebellion.
The concept of doing something with Aegon’s Conquest is not new. nearly 5 years ago HBO was considering turning Aegon’s Conquest into a series along with other show concepts like a sequel series that followed Jon Snow. The series would conclude with a feature film.
It seems that Warner Brothers Discovery is continuing their efforts to churn out more and more of George R.R. Martians epic story.
The current version of Aegon’s Conquest is to be written by House of Cards showrunner and Andor writer Beau Willimon. This information was given to us during the Warner Bros. Discovery’s quarterly report stating - “Beyond 2027, the slate will continue to leverage iconic intellectual property, including the theatrical event film Aegon’s Conquest from the Game of Thrones universe,”.
With the continueation of other Song of Ice and Fire Properties such as A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 and House of the Dragon Season 4, there will be plenty of Ice and Fire content to keep fans happy until this major release.
For those lucky enough as well, there is also The Mad King play that is being run by the Shakespear Company. We have the privilege to be flying out to see this play for ourselves and will be sure to report back our thoughts on this play.
As of the time of writing this article there is no trailer out yet for this movie, but we can assume that the script is well in the works and casting should be around the corner. In the meantime here is a fan made trailer
