Faceless Menace

The first deck we will take a look at is the black green blue deck Faceless Menace. The themed ability for this deck is Morph. Morph allows the player to pay 3 to cast a card with the ability face down as a 2/2 colorless, type-less creature. The player can then turn that creature face-up at instant speed by paying the cost of the morph specified on the card.

The commander for this deck is Kadena, Slinking Sorcerer. This legendary creature that is a Naga Wizard has two abilities. The first ability is the first face down creature spell you cast each turn costs 3 less to cast. The second ability is whenever a face-down creature enters the battlefield under your control, draw a card.

The beck breaks down to the following card types: 1 commander, 1 planeswalker, 31 creatures, 11 sorcery, 7 instant, 5 artifacts, 4 enchantments, and 40 lands.

Mystic Intellect

The second set here is the blue red white Mystic Intellect deck. The themed ability for this deck is Flashback. Flashback allows a player to pay an alternative cost to cast a spell directly from the graveyard. The spell card is the exiled when it leaves the stack. This ability has been around for quite some time. The commander for this deck is Sevinne, the Chronoclasm. He is a legendary creature, human wizard that is a 2/2. His first ability prevents all damage that would be dealt to him. His second ability allows you to cast your first instant or sorcery spell from your graveyard each turn and copy it, then choose a new target for the copy.

The cards in this deck are broken down as: 1 commander, 1 planeswalker, 19 creatures, 13 sorcery, 15 instants, 7 artifacts, 4 enchantments and 40 lands.

Primal Genesis

This is the red green white deck of the set. The set is themed around the ability of populate. Populate creates copies of creature tokens. This effect was first introduced back in Return to Ravnica in 2012 under the green white Selesnya guild. The main commander is Ghired, Conclave Exile that costs two uncolored, 1 red 1 green and 1 white mana. His abilities are when he enters the battlefield, create a 4/4 green Rhino creature token with trample. His secondary ability is that whenever he attacks he uses populate. The created token creature then enters the battlefield tapped. This could be a pretty deadly combination.

The set itself includes the following cards: 1 commander, 1 planeswalker, 28 creatures, 10 sorcery cards, 10 instant cards, 5 artifacts, 6 enchantments, and 39 lands.

Merciless Rage

The only duo color themed deck that heavily features the Madness ability. Madness allows a player to cast a spell for an alternate cost if the card is discarded. The set’s commander is Anje Falkenrath. A legendary vampire creature that enters with haste. His ability on tap is to discard a card and draw a card. This fits very well as expected with the Madness mechanic this deck is themed around. The other ability attached here is if the card has the ability madness when discarded, untap Anje. Tho this could potentially run make a nice string of discards and madness triggers.

The deck in total contains 1 commander, 1 planeswalker, 28 creatures, 12 sorcery, 4 instants, 8 artifacts, 6 enchantments and 40 lands 10 of which are basic swamp and 10 are basic mountain.
