Wizards of the Coast Responds to Covid-19

GamestoreReliefHeader.jpg

We all know that this has been a difficult and dangerous time. Local game stores are feeling the pinch as well. So hearing the new yesterday that Wizards of the Coast has decided to take some form of action to help out gaming stores was nice to hear.

Wizards of the Coast will be reprinting the Mystery booster boxes to their LGS network members and ship the boosters free of charge. The proceeds of these packs will 100% back the game store. So if you are looking for a good way to support your game store in a time like this, be sure to pick some of these packs up once it becomes safe to do so. No word yet on the exact date of this reprint but we can assume that they will be on their way sometime in the next month or two.

Another thing that Wizards of the Coast is doing is allowing stores to collect admission fees for the MGT Arena as their players are all paying from home until at least June 1st 2020.

In addition, Wizards of the Coast is pushing back some dates to not only take strain off the supply chain industry, but to keep people at home where they should be at this time. Ikoria has been pushed back Ikoria Lair of the Behemoths back to May 15 2020 for North America, here is the time frame according to Wizards of the Coast: “

  • April 2 – Ikoria Debut, trailer launch, (7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET/2 p.m. UTC) and the start of previews

  • April 10 – Last day of previews

  • April 16 – Ikoria released on Magic: The Gathering Arena and Magic Online

  • April 17 – Prerelease/release in Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong
