Magic the Gathering released their Core Set 2020 on July 12th 2019. This is the 19th magic core set released to date. This set contains 280 cards and here is how they break down.

  • 112 common 40%

  • 80 uncommon 28.6%

  • 53 rare 18.9%

  • 15 mythic rare 5%

The changes of a foil in this set are 1 in 45.

Core sets have always been a staple to the game at least going back as far as when I personally started playing.

Some notable cards in this set are Imperious Bloodlord, Cavalier of Night, Yarok, the Desecrated, and of course Chandra, Awakened Inferno herself. Personally I am a fan of all the Cavalier cards for this set. The art is fantastic. The Cavalier of Gales, it’s a solid 5/5 creature with flying and has some really cool effects that let my mind wonder into an easy way to take advantage of knowing what is on top of my deck.

All of the Cavaliers have similar mana costs covering their respective color with a 2 uncolored and 3 of the respective mana to the color of the creature. Cavalier of Night and Cavalier of Flame are cool but I rarely see myself using these colors in my decks so I will likely not get as much use out of them.
